GPL Match Report: Heart of Lions come from behind to beat Dreams FC to boost survival hopes
Heart of Lions took their survival bid to another level by stunning Dreams FC on their home turf in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
Bashir Hayford’s team rallied from a goal down to secure a 2-1 triumph over the ‘Still Believe’ outfit at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu.
This first away victory of the season propels Lions out of the relegation zone for the first time this campaign.
Dreams FC took an early lead when Joseph Esso scored his first goal for the club in the 17th minute. Defender Ebenezer Abban equalized on the brink of half-time by converting a penalty kick.
Two minutes into the second half, forward Mustapha Yakubu netted his sixth goal of the season, securing the win for the Lions and ending their winless streak on the road.
The victory sees Lions level on points with Dreams FC, both standing two points above the relegation zone. Lions now have 35 points from 30 matches, with four games remaining in the season.
Next, Lions will face league leaders FC Samartex 1996, while Dreams FC will host Legon Cities FC on Wednesday to clear one of their three games in hand.
