Seth Nii Darko, a communications team member of Asante Kotoko, has dismissed reports suggesting that the club will incur a fee of GH₵10,000 per game for using the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium as their temporary home venue.
Following the closure of Baba Yara Sports Stadium for renovations by the National Sports Authority, it was reported that Asante Kotoko would pay the specified amount for each match at Len Clay.
However, Darko expressed his disappointment with the media’s failure to verify such claims before publishing.“It is not true that we are paying GH₵10,000 cedis per game to use the Len Clay Stadium. Media houses I respect all carried this news without even calling to ask whether it is true or not, ” he stated on Happy Sports. He clarified that Asante Kotoko will not pay rental fees for the venue but will instead be responsible for maintaining the facility.
“We are not going to pay for the use of the venue, and every revenue we get through our gate proceeds will come to us. We will maintain the facility as part of the agreements, which is why we are not paying for its use.
”Asante Kotoko’s first match at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw against Young Apostles on matchday 3 of the ongoing Ghana Premier League season.
