South African side Black Leopards have sacked Ghanaian manager Maxwell Konadu after just seven months, marking another challenging chapter in his coaching career abroad.
Konadu’s sacking was triggered by a 2-1 loss to Lerumo United on Saturday, a result that deepened the club’s struggles in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
The 52-year-old coach was expected to revitalize the Venda-based club due to his resume and the recent success of leading Nsoatreman to their first-ever CAF Confederation Cup qualification.
However, despite his extensive experience—including stints with Asante Kotoko, Legon Cities, and the Black Stars as an assistant coach—Konadu found it difficult to make a lasting impact in South Africa’s second tier.
He leaves the Black Leopards languishing in 10th place with 23 points from 17 matches, far below the expectations set when Konadu was appointed in July 2024.
