It’s being disclosed that, the Ministry of Sports and Recreation is not paying new Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz $100,000 as reported earlier.
The 73-year old Portuguese trainer was unveiled by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) as new gaffer and a successor of Otto Addo. He will lead the Black Stars to the 2026 FIFA World Cup slated for this summer.
He signed a short term four month contract, reportedly agreeing a salary of $100,000.
However, source at the Ministry of Sports and Recreation have dismissed those claims as inaccurate.
The sector Minister, Hon. Kofi Adams, is expected to brief the media soon to provide clarity on the official remuneration package for the former Iran, South Africa and Egypt head coach.
Queiroz brought on board five members to strengthen Black Stars technical team and is expected to begin his tenure with high-profile friendly matches against Mexico next month, followed by another test against Wales on June 2 as part of preparations for the World Cup.
The Association is also engaging an Asian nation for a possible friendly before the Mundial starts.
