Former Ghana youth star Nii Odartey Lamptey remains confident in the Black Starlets despite their frustrating start to the TotalEnergies CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Ghana were held to a 2-2 draw by Algeria national under-17 football team on Thursday at the Mohammed VI Football Academy after surrendering a two-goal advantage in their opening Group D match.
Reacting to the result on Asempa FM, Lamptey urged supporters to remain calm, insisting the team still has the quality to make an impact in the tournament.
“The Black Starlets will bounce back from this disappointing result. We have a good team, and I am confident we will do well,” he said.
The draw leaves Ghana with work to do in a highly competitive Group D, especially after South Africa defeated defending champions Senegal in the other opening fixture to move top of the standings.
The Black Starlets will now shift focus to a crucial second group game against Senegal on Sunday, May 17, where victory could significantly boost their chances of progressing to the knockout stage.
