A protest case on the desk of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee has failed to see sanction discharged, despite Bolga All Stars SC dragging Real Tamale United up there.
The Upper East Region based outfit months ago, filed a protest against RTU in a case of failing to comply with the decision of the Player Status Committee (PSC). The Tamale club supposedly refused to respect the decision of the adjudicated body of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to pay a fined to player Fuseini Mustapha.
With the 2025/26 league season officially over, the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association have yet to release sanctions to Real Tamale United FC who has failed to respect decision of the PSC or offer ruling of the said case with points deduction at stake.
A case that, will hand better league standing fate to either clubs as unfortunately RTU refused a defense case.
BACKGROUND
Player (Fuseini Mustapha) took RTU to the Player Status Committee (PSC) of the Association with the adjudicated body charging the club (RTU) with a fine of GHS 10,600 of which to be paid to Fuseini with a deadline of 14-days in March 2025.
Fast-forward, Fuseini Mustapha returned to PSC having failed to hear from the club, leading to the case pushed to the Disciplinary Committee. RTU at this stage, still declined defense case of Bolga All Stars protest against them for not respecting the ruling by forfeiting the charge.
The Disciplinary Committee upon their sitting, charged RTU GHS 3,000 and asked an amount of GHS 10,600 be paid in installment to player Fuseini Mustapha. With first payment fixed for February in amount of GHS 5,000 and the remaining GHS 5,600 in March, 2026.
Real Tamale United defaulted the directives and have yet to oblige till date, leaving room for questioning as to how and why the Disciplinary Committee of GFA is still sitting aloof without reacting to the actions of RTU with few games to end the season.
Shockingly, RTU have yet to comply with the decision passed by the body despite handcuffed by GFA revised 2019 Disciplinary Code Article 15(1) a, b, c and d.
A potential action that ought for points deduction and demotion, in accordance with the revised 2019 GFA Disciplinary status thus article 6(3)(G) and (H) as well as breaching article 15(1) thus failure to respect decision ought to be implemented.
CASE STUDY
In the case of Tema Youth FC and Ghana Football Association over transfer fee of Joseph Paintsil.
GFA ruled Tema Youth pay €150,000 to the GFA, €688,000 to Young Redbull FC (Paintsil’s previous Ghanaian club), and €150,000 to the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA). But the decision was overlooked and later sent to CAS for redress, however verdict by the Court of Arbitration for Sports meant Tema Youth pays the money with GFA Appeals Committee affirming that earlier.
Despite two previous attempts, CAS denied requests for a Stay of Execution by Tema Youth. The club’s non-compliance resulted in disciplinary actions, including point deductions and the looming threat of a transfer ban.
Enforcement
CAS maintained Tema Youth pays else bow to article 33(5) C and 15(1) meaning Tema Youth suffer demotion to Division Two and continue to incur points deduction for each points played until outstanding debt is cleared to the appropriate quarters.
Additionally, a transfer ban, both domestically and internationally was enforced till full settlement or mutually agreed upon resolution was reached.
