Special Assistant to Dr. Kwame Kyei, Asante Kotoko Executive Chairman, Nana Gyambibi Coker, has allegedly ordered the club’s head coach Kjetil Zachariassen to resign from his post ‘if he is a Whiteman’, a statement which by far casts a huge slur on the integrity and principles of the Blacks.
According to Mr. Charles Kouadio, agent of coach Zachariassen, the Asante Kotoko official has on several occasions, including today (Thursday) sent him messages ordering him to tell his client to resign as head coach of the Porcupine Warriors if he is really a white man. Kouadio made the allegation in an interview with Fox FM on Thursday, where he claimed that Coker’s conduct is very provocative and might force him and his client (Kjetil Zachariassen) “to do what we don’t want to do”.
In his submission, Kouadio emphasized on the fact that Nana Coker’s reason for asking the coach to resign is that he is a Whiteman – an implication that whites, as opposed to Blacks, are very principled, gentle and hold their integrity in high esteem and do not insist on keeping their position if results aren’t forthcoming.
“Coker
sent me message that I should tell the Whiteman that if he is a Whiteman he
should resign, a Whiteman that didn’t carry out his duties should resign”,
Charles Kouadio told Fox FM.
Asking the coach to resign due to perhaps unsatisfactory performance might sound fair to every right thinking member of society, but attributing the decision to race, colour or one’s origin does not only suggest racism, but a clear implication, in this context, that Blacks are selfish who will always choose salary over protection of their name and integrity.
Nana Coker has, according to Mr. Kouadio, charged coach Zachariassen to resign if he is a white man, or pay for his own flight tickets back to Ghana within the next 24 hours or Kotoko assumes he has abandoned his duty post.
“This morning (Thursday, November 7, 2019) the message he (Nana Coker) sent to me I don’t like it; that if he is a White-man he should resign, or between now and tomorrow he should pay his flight tickets and come back or else you will tell everybody that he abandoned his duty post. How can you say that he abandoned his post when you told him to stay back because of his security, don’t you care for his life?”, he questioned.
Attempts to reach Coker for his reaction to the claims of Mr. Kouadio fell through as he failed to answer every call we made to him.
Coach
Zachariassen is currently in Ivory Coast after he was allegedly told by some
Kotoko officials not to join the team back to Ghana after their 0-2 loss to FC
San Pedro which saw them exit the Confederation Cup competition.
