Black Stars and Columbus Crew defender Jonathan Mensah has emphasised his passion for his boyhood club Obuasi Ashantigold SC, saying he is open to playing for them again before he retires from the game.
The former Free State Stars, FC Anzhi Makhachkala star featured for the Len Clay stadium side during the 2007-2008 season and has stated his availability to make a sensational return to the club to serve in a capacity which would be preferably handed him by the club.
“Ashantigold has done so much for me, even though I just played one year there, because that was where everything started”, the Black Stars defender told GTV Sports Plus in an interview.
“By God’s grace, Coach Duncan was the man and he actually signed me to my first professional contract,” he stated.
“So, Obuasi is one of my homes and Ashantigold is always going to be my home. If they need my services, I’m always going to be available.
“Whether it’s a player before I retire. Whether it’s a coach, a scout, whatever it is. But that place is always going to be my home”, he stressed.
