The Ghana League Clubs Associations (GHALCA) has proposed new date for the replay of the 2019 President Cup, which was called off just ten minutes after kickoff due to heavy downpour.
The 2019 edition of the President Cup match between Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak was initially scheduled for Sunday, 8th September, 2019 at the Baba Yara sports stadium in Kumasi, but referee Bernard Dumfeh was forced to call the game off few minutes after kick after a heavy rain left the field flooded, making it impossible for the game to proceed.
Organizers of the match, GHALCA, had earlier proposed 13th October for the replay of the match, a date by which Asante Kotoko would have cleared their double header matches against Tunisia’s Etoile Sportive du Sahel in the CAF Champions League last round of the preliminary stage qualifiers.
However, with most of Kotoko key players featuring for the Black Stars B team in the upcoming WAFU tournament in Senegal starting next Sunday and end on October 13th, the Porcupine Warriors raised concerns about the situation and organizers have acted swiftly to serve the interest of both clubs and fans.
Vice Chairman of GHALCA, Alex Akumey has now confirmed that the replay has been scheduled for 27th October, 2019 subject to approval from both Kotoko and Hearts of Oak.
