Ghanaian boxer and former WBO Super bantamweight champion Isaac Dogboe have denied ever consulting a juju man ahead of his second title defense with Mexican boxer Emmanuel Navarrete. Paul Dogboe was quoted in an interview with Accra based Joy FM to have said “We were bringing a stool that hasn’t come back to his throne yet. When we are repairing all these things, they have to be doing certain rituals and things we’ve done all that”
“But when the prophet told me that, Paul, things will not be well and I told my son that this fight, the juju people say we going to knock Navarrete out in round two and the prophet says this cannot be.” This statement by Paul was taken out of context by a section of media houses to mean they consulted juju man (black magic) before the bout. Isaac Dogboe has come out to disassociate himself from such claims. In an interview with Ebenezer Paakwesi Brinful (Noble) on www.ghanasportspage.com, he affirmed that he has no association or connection with any fetish priest and that he has never consulted any fetish priest or juju man to help him win any fight in his professional career as a boxer. He added that he has always accredited his victories to God and God alone, therefore it doesn’t make sense to him going to a fetish priest and consult him/her to help him win a fight.
According to former WBO Super bantamweight champion, God has been with him from the beginning of his career has a boxer, through his victories and defeats. He added that he believes in prayer and always pray to the Almighty God for victory and only consults servants of God to pray on his behalf in a lead up to his fights.
