Asante Kotoko have been without midfielder Kwame Adom Frimpong for the past five games but there is some good news as he is closing in on full recovery.
Adom Frimpong would join the rest of the squad in training this week, having had a good spell of light training sessions on the sidelines of Adako Jachie last week.
Club’s physiotherapist, Samuel Ankamah confirmed this to Kotoko media and disclosed that the versatile midfielder may not be available for Wednesday’s FA Cup clash at Bekwai Youth Football Academy but could be in line for selection against Ashgold on Sunday.
“Adom Frimpong’s recovery is so far going according to plan,” Samuel Ankamah said. “He has fared well so far with his light training sessions and we are looking to push him into the squad somewhere this week.”
“It’s unlikely he would play in the FA Cup opening fixture at Bekwai but could very well be ready for the Ashgold game at Len Clay on Sunday should everything go as planned.”
The versatile midfielder suffered a groin injury as he warmed up during the Porcupines’ home win over Dreams FC on May 8.
He could not go into the game and has gone on to miss their home win over Dwarfs, the away draw at Liberty Professionals, the home draw with WAFA and the goalless drawn game at Aduana Stars last weekend.
The club’s end to wait for his return is fast approaching as he looks to intensify his recovery process this week.
