The Azzuri’s of Italy have secured the third place of the UEFA Nations League competition after beating Belgium by 2 goals to 1.
Italy’s world unbeaten record was stopped by the Spanish national team after 2 – 1 defeat in the semi-final stage. Prior to that Italy recorded 37 unbeaten record in football.
The aim of the Italian captain Giorgio Chiellini and the manager Roberto Mancini was to reach 40 games unbeaten round but the dream was thrashed by the Spaniards.
Belgium also lost by 3 goals to 2 in the semi-final stage to France.
Belgium took the lead in the first half of the game after Yannick Carrassco and Romelu Lukaku’s magnificent strike. France came in with huge performance to equalize and score the winning goal in late minutes of the game. Lukaku’s second goal was ruled out as an offside goal before France getting the winning goal.
Nicolo Barrela and Domenico Barardi netted the two goals for the Azzuri’s and the consolation goal from Charles de Ketelaere.
Italy are now third placed team of the aforementioned competition after this successful win at Alliaz Stadium in Turin, Italy.
Spain and France will be in action this evening for the final at San Siro Sports Stadium in Italy.
