Interim Head coach of the senior men’s national team, the Black Stars, Otto Addo has sent a clear message of optimism to Ghanaians ahead of Friday’s FIFA 2022 Qatar World Cup play-off first leg against rivals Nigeria, saying, Ghana has what it takes to come out victorious.
Otto is still yet to publicly name his squad for the tie, but the invited Black Stars players will assemble in the Capital on Monday before departing to Kumasi to continue preparations for the game on Friday at the Baba Yara sports stadium.
In a recorded video released by the FA on Monday, Otto Addo stated, that the technical handlers of the Black Stars believe in the players they have invited, and also in their adopted strategies going into the game against their West African rivals.
“Matches between Ghana and Nigeria are always difficult, but we believe in our players, we believe in our strategies, and we believe in the unflinching support of all Ghanaians as we go into these two matches”, he stated.
The former Ghana international is confident that Ghana have what it takes to brush off Nigeria aside and qualify for the final tournament in Qatar which starts in November this year.
“We are Ghana and we have what it takes to come out victorious”, he stressed.
Meanwhile, the Borusia Dortmund Assistant coach is aware of the rivalry between the two nations when it comes to football, has admitted that beating the Super Eagles won’t be easy.
“We are only a few days away from playing our crucial match against our rivals, Nigeria. We all expect Ghana to qualify for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar 2022, but that won’t be easy as we need to do our best to make it to this tournament”, he acknowledged.
Otto however assured, that the players, the GFA are very much committed to the assignment, and will leave no stone unturned.
“The players, the technical team and the Ghana Football Association are committed to this task. We really want to make ourselves and the nation proud by qualifying for this upcoming World Cup.
