The National Sports Authority has opened up on where the floodlights at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium will consume power for the Friday night action between Ghana and Nigeria in the FIFA World Cup qualifier play-offs first leg.
The information gathered from the National Sports Authority (NSA) reveals that the floodlights will use generator in spite the presence of electricity to avoid high voltage that could lead to a calamity like what happened in 2012 when Ghana played against Lesotho at the same venue.
Ever since Thomas Edison invented the lightbulb they have been used to illuminate the dark and the use of floodlights at the various stadia has become part of the game.
The NSA insists the floodlights could suffer a power outage during the game per the electricity system in Ghana and they do not want to take chances and have tested the facility to avoid embarrassment during the game on Friday.
The GFA together with the NSA are working hard to secure all the approvals from FIFA before the game.
Currently, the stadium is in good shape to host the first leg encounter between Ghana and Nigeria.
