The under 20 national, Black Starlets of Ghana have qualified for the semi-finals of the WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship after edging past Togo 3-0.
After days of intensive training sessions, the Starlets were eager to put the last weekend’s 4-2 loss to Nigeria and restore their hope of making the fans proud.
The win gives Paa Kwasi Fabin’s side the ticket to compete in the semi final stage of the competition.
In a game that seemed to be tough for both sides in the first half, the Black Starlets back in the last 36 minutes fought hard to snatch a vital win to progress.
They scored three second half goals to beat the young side of the Togolese national team.
Pius Adua broke the deadlock on the 54th minute. Razak Salifu later doubled the lead for the Starlets during the 77th minute following a long range pass from Ghana’s defense.
The Starlets claimed the third goal three minutes later as captain Collins Agyemang netted his second goal of the tournament from the spot to lead the team for the semis as Togo says goodbye to the competition.
