Former Ghana Goalkeeper Abubakar Damba has urged Asante Kotoko SC technical team to offer equal chance to their Goalkeepers.
According to the retired Ghanaian Goalkeeper, Felix Annan, Razak Abalora and Kwame Baah possess equal Goalkeeping abilities and needs to be given chance in the department as far as 2020/21 Ghana Premier League is concern.
Damba believes the head coach with his backroom staff is facing a challenge, having the best three goalkeepers in Ghana occupying their department. Black Stars second choice Goalkeeper Razak Abalora joined the Porcupine Warriors early this season with a three year deal and quickly took over the goal post to the disadvantage of their first choice who doubled as the captain Felix Annan.
Annan, after missing numerous matches came back to mend the post against WAFA in their Ghana Premier League matchday 26 fixture. And the experienced Ghanaian Goalkeeper wants Felix Annan to be maintained for sometime as Razak Abalora rest on the bench.
“Felix Annan needs the opportunity to highlight his Goalkeeping skills again, he’s angry for a chance”He needs to grab the chance with every part of his body”
“Goalkeepers at the same level especially having these national team keepers at your disposure you need to give them the opportunity to rotate them depending on the situation and the circumstances”, Damba told Radio Ahanta in Western Region.
“None of the Goalkeepers feel inferior”Right now, Asante Kotoko SC are faced with a situation and they have to deal with it”
“The technical team should implement that style of rotational policy”, he added.
Asante Kotoko SC is second on the Ghana Premier League with 46 points after 26 league games. They sit behind arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak SC who beats them with goal difference.
