CAF CL: Cameroon abjured to host the CL final

The Cameroon government has told CAF that the current measures to combat the spread of the coronavirus pandemic due to the weather conditions make it impossible to host the remainder of the 2019/2020 CAF Champions League.

Sources suggest that, the government of the Central African nation has told the Confederation of African Football, CAF, that the current measures to combat the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic makes it impossible to host the event.

Cameroon was awarded the right to host the 2020 CAF Champions League Final in May this year, but was later postponed following the outbreak of the CoronaVirus pandemic.

Recently, CAF and the Cameroon government were negotiating organization of the rest of the competition’s three games this season in Douala in the month of September, but this Saturday evening CAF is now seeking a new venue for the rest of the event.

This Pan-African Sports News Agency equally gathered that CAF is looking for a new host in Africa though BeInsports is reporting that the rest of the competition is likely to take place in the United Arab Emirates.

Whichever venue is picked by CAF, Egyptian giants and most successful side in the history of the competition, Al Ahly will face Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca while Zamalek have Raja Casablanca on their plate, in a tailor-made Egypt-Morocco North African derby in the Champions League semi-final.

The outbreak of the Corona Virus pandemic across the continent since February this year completely douse football activities in Africa.
