Former Ashantigold midfielder Latif Anabila is inches away from joining Asante Kotoko pending negotiations finalization by the Kotoko and representatives of the the player.
Reports went rife on Friday in the media that Latif Anabila had arrived in Kumasi for medicals at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital as negotiations with the Porcupine Warriors had been completed subject to medicals scheduled for today. As the hallmark of ghanasportspage.com, accuracy is preferred over timing and upon deep throat checks, ghanasportspage.com can confirm that agreements have not been completed between Asante Kotoko and representatives of Anabila, and his supposed medicals is still pending.
The facts of the matter is that, upon the expiration of his contract with Obuasi based Ashantigold Sporting Club, Latif Anabila was technically transferred by Ashantigold to Tema United, a lower division club based in Tema, after they had sent a request through the GFA approved player transfer system. Ashantigold approved the request, making Anabila Tema United player, which means he ceased to be a free agent.
The said transfer to Tema United nearly put Asante Kotoko off in the deal, but they later pressed on to strike a deal to sign Anabila now from the Alex Akumey owned Tema United club. Negotiations have been advanced between Kotoko and representatives of Anabila and this has been fruitful as the deal is now almost a done deal.
As of Friday, October 16, 2020, Asante Kotoko and Anabila’s representatives had agreed on several terms, with the deal almost 90% done, but there is one more thing that both parties have been locked up with since Kotoko’s stance differs from that of the player’s managers. Anabila was due to have his medicals on Friday provided a full agreement had been reached, but both parties have been struggling to reach an agreement on that. As a result, at the time of writing, Anabila is in Kumasi but the medicals is yet to take place.
From the look of things, the deal will finally be sealed, all things being equal, but the medicals would be done either on Saturday, October 17 or Monday, October 19, 2020.
“Officially he is not a Kotoko player as we speak, but about 90% whatever we are to agree upon has been agreed but he is yet to put pen to paper. He was to have his medicals today but he hasn’t done it as we speak. Talks are still ongoing and by the end of the day everything is possible, because we have to clear certain things before he can have his medicals but as we speak (now at 2:48pm GMT) it is not agree yet.
It can be agreed any moment from now, but if nothing changes he will become a Kotoko player. But for the medicals, I don’t know; it can happen soon, tomorrow (Saturday) or Monday (October 19). It’s 90% done but it’s not a deal yet”, a close source to the player told ghanasportspage.com in an exclusive briefing.
