Division one league side Unity FC have officially appointed football management and communications expert Alexander Kweku Oppong, popularly known in the media as Edilson the Thinker Man as head of Communications for the club ahead of the Normalization Committee Special competition due to start by March 30, FOX Sports can exclusively confirm.
The club hinted at the said appointment on Monday and has now made the move official after leaving fans of the club and the football fraternity at large in suspense.
Chief Executive Officer of the club, Opoku Afriyie Richmond, a member of the FOX 97.9 FM nationwide sports show crew, on Tuesday took to social media (Facebook) to officially announce the appointment of Mr. Oppong as his club’s “Communications Director”, sparking joyful smiles on the faces of the numerous fans of the Kenyase based club.
“Unity FC is glad to announce that Mr. Alexander Kweku Oppong of FOX 97.9 FM popularly known in the media fraternity as the THINKER MAN is our new Communications Director”, the club’s CEO Opoku Afriyie Richmond wrote on his official facebook account.
Alexander Kweku Oppong is an experienced sports journalist who have gone through the ranks of the media having worked previously with Focus FM, FOX FM, Otec FM and is currently back with FOX FM where he left with unfinished business to continue his studies abroad, China.
Edilson is a graduate from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) where he acquired Bsc in Business Administration, logistics and Supply Chain. His futuristic vision to attain greater height within the educational circle inspired him to further his studies for higher qualification.
He moved from his country of birth, Ghana, to East Asia, China where he expanded his reservoir of knowledge by acquiring Masters in Business Administration Management.
“It’s true I have been appointed as Communications Director of Unity FC and I feel honoured”, Edilson confirmed, speaking in an interview with Stephen Tetteh (Continental Commentator). “I’m grateful to the club, the CEO and not forgetting the ever-committed fans of the club, and I look to use my experience and knowledge in football management and communications to justify the confidence they’ve placed in me”, he stated.
Unity FC have been drawn to zone one B of the up coming Normalization Committee Special competition and have been scheduled to play their matches at the Kumasi Baba Yara sports stadium. This is due to TV schedules and Edilson is poised to take on responsibilities and discharge his duties by serving the media with the details of matches of his new employers.
Unity will play their first match against Nsuatreman FC in the special competition.
