Versatile and enterprising football administrator, Frederick Acheampong has been elected as the Treasurer for the Ghana Olympics Committee (GOC) during the body’s 2021 elections held on Monday.
Driven by his vast experience in football administration, the former Ashanti Gold Sporting Club Chief Executive Officer mustered the courage to step forward and contest for the nation’s Olympics Committee position, and has come out with flying colours.
He polled 41 votes to beat off competition from competitor, Christopher Elssifie, who managed 22 votes at the GOC’s 24th Elective congress in Accra on Monday.
In football circles, Frederick Acheampong, a distinguished media practitioner, is currently a member of the Ghana Football Association’s Executive Council. He has previously worked for four (4) times Ghana Premier League (GPL) champions Ashanti Gold Sporting, where he functioned effectively until his wilful resignation from the position on Thursday, 30th April 2020.
He also doubles currently as a General Coordinator for the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Acheampong took to Twitter to thank all and sundry for the support after his victory in the Monday’s elections.
