Good news hit the camp of premier league greats Asante Kotoko, after a fruitful meeting between the playing body and the sole owner and Life Patron of the club, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace on Thursday.
The Asantehene invited the players at his place to engage the team for deliberations and familarisation as part of the club’s periodic practice. The meeting was purposely to officially introduce the current crop of players of the club to the Life Patron, and to listen to any possible grievances the players may have been harbouring so as to provide a swift solution.
The team, led by the team manager and former player, Henry Ohene Brenya, received encouraging words from the great King, who also urged the players to give their all in defence and service to the Kotoko shirt and the Asante Kingdom.
One key issue discussed was the issue of unpaid signing on fees of some of the players. Yours truly, ghanasportspage.com gathers that there are a total of 10 players whose signing on fees are unpaid and they laid it before the Life Patron.
A deep throat source of ghanasportspage.com reveals, that the wise King assured the players to be relaxed while orders steps to be taken to settle them. His Majesty the Asantehene will, as a result, invite the 8-member Management of the club in due time for arrangements to settle the unpaid debts.
The meeting ended on a joyful note and the players departed from the palace with all smiles and great inspiration to continue the mission of winning the club’s 24th league title which has eluded the club for the past six seasons.
