Former Bechem United head coach Alberto Vincenzo Annese has expressed a strong desire to return to Ghana football after four years of his departure, this time with his eyes firmly fixed on national team coaching job.
The former Azuris central midfielder spent the 2017 football season with Ghana top flight side Bechem United Football Club as their coach, and has fallen in love with the football talent in the country.
Speaking exclusively to ghanasportspage.com, the 36-year old former Belize national football team coach revealed his dream to return to Ghana, this time with the aim of coaching one of the country’s national football teams.
“I miss Ghana football”, Alberto told ghanasportspage.com. “It’s my dream to come to Ghana again maybe for national team this time because my target must improve, I don’t want to stay the same way”, he revealed.
Alberto Vincenzo Annese has been to many countries to coach at club level. He is currently the head coach for Indian club Gokulam Kerala FC in the Indian League – the league which is officially known as the Hero I-League for sponsorship reasons. Beyond club football, Alberto has a national team coaching experience. He has previously coached the “The Jarguas”, the national football team of Belize in the CONCACAF federation.
According to him, Ghana is the most football talented country he’s been to and that the Black Stars have the potential to be on top in Africa if they have a good coach.
“Ghana is the most African country that has the most (football) talents. I have been to many countries but no one has the talents like Ghana. The players have very good talents but the problem I feel is there is no empathy between the coach and the players. So all foreign coaches they come to Ghana but they don’t become successful, especially with the Black Stars”, he opined.
To him, it is an undeniable fact that Ghana has not seen desirable results from the Black Stars in most of the past years, but this can be overturned with just one good coach.
“I know that it has been long time back and we don’t see any good results with the Black Stars, and I believe with one good coach the Ghana national team can be on top in Africa, and they can represent in the World Cup very well.
In the last many years I don’t see any kind of good results from coaches who come to Ghana and I think you will agree with me”, he argued.
Alberto Vincenzo Annese holds a UEFA Pro Licence in coaching, and is qualified to coach at any highest level.
