Ashantigold are keenly waiting to seal the signing of their long term target Yahaya Mohammed, but the protracted transfer may fall through as Aduana Stars patron seems unavailable to approve the deal, pitching the Obuasi based club against the clock.
According to the club structure at Aduana Stars, all decisions taken by the management of the club, especially regarding transfers are subject to approval by the club’s life patron, Osagyefo Nana Agyemang Badu II, the King of Dormaa. Regarding Yahaya Mohammed’s move, the management members of the two clubs, Ashantigold and Aduana Stars are done with all negotiations for the transfer of the player, but this will only be deemed a success after it’s approved by the Dormaahene.
Currently, all documents regarding the move have been forwarded by the management of Aduana Stars to Nana Agyemang Badu II for approval, but the busy High Court judge is yet to respond. Ashantigold are preparing for the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup competition, and have set a timeline within which to close the dockets on transfers, and further delays from Aduana may cause Yahaya’s move to fall through.
In an interaction with ghanasportspage.com, Communications Director of Aduana Stars, Evans Oppong confirmed that agreement has been reached between the managements of the two clubs and await confirmation from Nana Agyemang Badu.
“We on negotiations currently, the documents are with our life patron Osagyefo Nana Agyemang Badu II. In Aduana Stars it has been a normal practice that any decision taken by management has to be approved by our life patron who happens to be the owner of the club, Nana Dormaahene”, Evans disclosed.
“In fact, management to management (between the two clubs) I can confirm that we were almost done with the negotiation, what was left was for Yahaya Mohammed to travel to Obuasi to append his signature so that he would be an Ashgold player, but currently after we sat down with Ashgold and agreed with them, we’ve forwarded every documents to our life owner for his final blessing. We are currently waiting for Nana to either approve or disapprove, and Nana’s decision on this matter will be final. So the chance of Yahaya Mohammed joining Ashgold is now 50-50”, he explained.
While the Aduana Stars management are keenly waiting for Nana’s immediate response, Evans Oppong believes that they cannot push Nana to attend to the documents and give his word on it since doing so will paint a picture of one having a personal interest in the matter. He acknowledged however, that Osagyefo Nana Agyemang Badu II is occupied of late and they believe sooner than latter, he will respond to the matter.
“We are expecting that decision (from Nana) in a jiffy because Ashgold told us that there is a timeline on their signings, they want to complete their signings within some shortest possible time, so as management we have also forwarded this news to Nana so that Nana will work very soon so that in a jiffy we will hear something from the palace”, he added.
Evans Oppong warn however, that the Aduana Stars management want Nana Agyemang Badu to respond at his own time he deems fit according to his schedules, since putting pressure on him will make it look like one having a personal interest in the transfer. He however denies that the delay implies Nana is unwilling to release the player to Ashgantigold SC.
“Not that. You know when something is with our life owner, anytime as a management member you put pressure on Nana then Nana will think that you have a personal interest in this matter. So there’s been a practice that anytime management pushes something to Nana you wait for a while for him to work out of his own will to attend to the documents, especially as far as transfer is concern, as soon as management member you start calling Nana that look, you have to attend to these documents, the documents have kept so long on your table, there is a time frame on it, then Nana being a High Court judge will simply think that you have a personal interest in this matter. So all our management members are very quiet on this, and we know it has been a normal practice”.
Having said that, I must admit, Nana has been very busy of late, last week the President (of the country) was here in Dormaa to pay homage to him, after that he has launched a clean up exercise here in Dormaa and Nana seems to be occupied, but I believe whiles there is time frame on it and we’ve told Nana on what Ashgold said with regards to time, I believe Nana will attend to it. I can’t speak the mind of Nana but I believe Nana will surely attend to that document and hopefully deliver his view on it”, Evans concluded.
