Accra Hearts of Oak Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr Frederick Moore has calmed rumours of his exit from the club as CEO, saying his position remains unchanged.
Mr Moore recently proceeded on “sick leave” according to a statement by Accra Hearts of Oak, but lots of rumours have gone rife in the media linking him out of the club. The loyal football administrator would usually not comment on rumours as he prefers the club to rather be the centre of the news, but ghanasportspage.com called on him for clarification on the matter and he gladly did.
In an exclusive interaction with Ghana’s leading sports news portal (ghanasportspage.com), Mr Moore looked extremely reticent about whether he has parted ways with Hearts of Oak, but maintained that his position with the club remains the same and he expects the club to issue a statement if there is a new development.
As the nation’s biggest sports news network, ghanasportspage.com presents to you our cherished readers a transcript of Q & A from our interaction with Mr Moore on the said matter. Below is the Q & A from our interview with Mr Moor:
Question: Could you please confirm for us the current situation with you and Hearts of Oak Sir?
Answer (Mr Moore): You know I don’t really comment on rumours, because there are so many of them, if I start to comment on one it will be one after the other. The club has issued a statement and if there is anything new the club will issue a statement.
Question: The club (Hearts of Oak) has released a new statement today to deny the fact that they’ve appointed a new CEO, but the statement was quiet silent on your situation despite the rumours going around, that’s why we deem it necessary to find out from you personally, Sir?
Answer (Mr Moore): Oh okay, I see where you’re coming from, but you know, my position remains the same and if the club has any new news then they will make it clear. There is a lot of rumours, you know Accra Hearts of Oak is one of the biggest clubs in Ghana so there is always going to be people creating news about it, and there is a lot of things going on that we are trying to put right.
Question: Are you on sick leave Sir?
Answer (Mr Moore): No. I’m on leave, I’m on sick leave a bit err, last week but, so I’m now on leave, I’m on leave but I’m actually at the office today.
Question: Oh okay….you are at the office today (December 3) as in at Hearts of Oak working as the CEO of the club?
Answer (Mr Moore): (bursts into laughter)…..I don’t know how to answer your question but at the moment as to where I’m sitting in the office today, errrm…..I am on leave, I think it came out officially that I am on leave so the position has not changed, and if anything changes the club will issue an official statement. I don’t want to be the story, Accra Hearts of Oak is bigger than any one person, so the story should about the progress and ideas about the club and not about me.
Question: There seems to be so much PR gimmick about the situation, is something hidden, Sir?
Answer (Mr Moore): (Bursts into laughter)…..So because I don’t comment on rumours it means something is hidden? I believe that Accra Hearts of Oak is a big enough club to dictate the news that they want to talk about about the club and not to just chase rumours, I know a lot of our supporters would want us to be responding to a lot of the rumours that come around.
Question: It is imperative that we make things clear as to the status of issues – it looks like the PR gimmick seems to be taking the centre stage instead of the realities on the ground?
Answer (Mr Moore): No no no, the club has issued a statement that I am off on sick leave. I’ve got a little better so I’m able to come to work today and sort out a few things so that things can move smoothly. That is not really news. The only reason why they issued the statement was because there was so much news that was going on. If something is going to change the club cannot hide it, they will say it. (END OF CONVERSATION)
It is a matter of time to see whether or not Mr Moore will return to resume work as the CEO of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club Limited. As of now, the position still remains that he is on leave, no longer a “sick leave”, but only time will tell when he returns to work as the CEO of the 20 times league champions.
