Former Asante Kokoko defender Augustine Sefa has firmly denied knowledge him being installed as a chief priest of his home town is being peddled on social media on Thursday.
Pictures of a young man clothed in white fabric and with the entire body painted in what appears to be white paint, signifying the looks of a fetish priest. The said man in the circulating images appears to look similar to Augustine Sefa, and the pictures have since gone viral on social media, attributing it to be images of the former Asante Kotoko midfielder.
Sighting the images, ghanasportspage.com reached Augustine Sefa for his side of the story and he has completely denied being the one, saying he and the person in the images are just look alike. According to him, his former teammate at Asante Kotoko, Martin Antwi was the first person to send him the said images on social media, and he blames him partly for the circulation.
“I know nothing about it, it’s my own teammate Martin Antwi who sent made those pictures to be circulating, I don’t even know the person”, Sefa told ghanasportspage.com. “It’s not me, I don’t even know the person and I don’t know how the thing kept circulating like that. One of my former teammates at Medeama also uploaded it on his Facebook page the thing is circulating on his page; I don’t know anything about it”, Sefa insisted.
A careful look at the circulating pictures shows how similar Sefa looks to the person in the picture, and ghanasportspage.com put this question to Augustine, he admitted the similarities but insists he is not the one.
“Even myself the very first time I saw the picture I was contemplating where I might have gone to do such a thing, but when I zoom the picture before I realised it’s not me.
According to Sefa, it was Kofi Owusu, former goalking of the GPL playing for Berekum Chelsea, who first uploaded the pictures on his WhatsApp status which caused it to go viral. “Marting Antwi sent it first to me on WhatsApp and Kofi Owusu used it for his status then people started circulating it on Facebook. People started congratulating me for becoming a chief priest or whatever, but I don’t know anything about what is going”.
Sefa is currently based in Kumasi after leaving Asante Kotoko upon expiration of his contract with the club. He is currently without a club and has been training personally while awaiting the next transfer window to open so he can join a club of his choice.
