The Statement of Congratulation to GOC executives reads:
“At the outset, I would like to, on behalf of my team, extend congratulations to you, in
particular, and your team in general, on winning the 2021 GOC elections – I applaud you.
In the run-up to the elections, we both shared our vision for a better Olympic Movement in
Ghana.
This important commitment should continue to be your guiding principle to enable the
GOC contributes to a well-developed and inclusive sports sector for our dear country.
The delegates have decided on who they want to lead this process and I accept their verdict. I
can imagine that colleagues on my team would be disappointed and that is understandable.
This is however a basic characteristic of sports and despite the anguish of not winning, we
should endure. I take this opportunity to assure my team members, that I am pleased with all
the efforts you put in individually and collectively to make our case to the delegates.
Now that they have decided, we need to rally behind the winners and lend our support to the common
cause that we all pursue.
Going forward, our love for the various sports we champion must remain resolute and our
commitment unshaken. In a moment like this, we should remember that the power of sports is
that which unites us – just like the Olympic Rings.
To Ben and the new team, congratulations once again, wishing you well and the very best in the development of sports in our country”.
