Asante Kotoko had been hit with a massive injury blow ahead of their Ashanti derby against Ashantigold in Obuasi this afternoon.
The Porcupines host the Miners in matchweek 28 fixture in the Ghana Premier League this afternoon in what promises to be a cagey encounter.
However, the club’s leading marksman, Francis Andy Kumi has been left out of Mariano Barreto’s squad for the clash due to an injury he sustained during the team’s preparation ahead of the blockbuster clash.
The 22-year-old, according to reports sustained injury at the club’s training during their preparations ahead of the game. Though, the extent of his injury is not communicated but is expected to make a return soon.
While his recovery is going well, as expected he is not ready for the Ashantigold clash at the Len Clay Stadium today. It represents a huge blow to Mariano Barreto, who is aiming to record a win to boost the club’s chances in the premier league title race.
Kumi has managed 11 appearances for Asante Kotoko in the ongoing season so far, scoring three goals in the process.
His absence will give opportunities to Naby Keita, Evans Adomako, Solomon Sarfo Taylor and Ibrahim Osman for the clash.
