Asante Kotoko will battle it out with regional rivals Ashanti Gold SC at the Len Clay Stadium in the Ghana premier league week 28 clash.
The league enters a defining period with many exciting games, especially in Week 28, which will rivalries renewed in Accra where Great Olympics play Hearts of Oak and Medeama face Karela United.
In Obuasi, it will be a cagey encounter between two sides who haven’t seen the best of form in recent games. For Asante Kotoko, three consecutive draws have left them in trailing Hearts with two points.
For the Miners, it’s nothing good to write home about with just a win in their last five which has left them in 10th position, level on points with Bechem United.
With either side needing the points and bragging rights, football fans are set for a thrill on Sunday afternoon.
The last meeting between the two sides was in the first round of the Ghana premier league, which ended in the goalless stalemate at the same venue.
However, Ashanti Gold are yet to beat Kotoko in the last five meetings, losing three before settling for draws in their previous two games.
With the Miners struggling for goals, Asante Kotoko will enter the game as favourites. Coach Mariano Barreto’s side will be boosted by the return of Razak Abalora and Ismail Ganiu. The pair will be available for selection after been released by the Black Stars for this weekend action.
The game is scheduled for Len Clay Stadium on Sunday at 3 PM and will be live on StarTimes/ Adepa TV channel.
