The Black Stars are ready to host “The Panthers” of Gabon in what promises to be make or broke encounter for Ghana in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon. The game has been scheduled to kick off at 7:00pm (19:00HRS) at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo,Yaoundé.
Striker Richmond Boakye Yiadom has revealed to the press at the pre-match conference the mindset of his teammates in camp as they think about nothing but victory over Gabon in the second group C match on Friday.
“I think the morale in camp now is the mindset to win against Gabon”, Boakye told the press. “I always believe the downfall of a man is not the end of his life, and we’ve been training very hard and we know what is in front of us, we know what is expected from us from home; thirty million people what they are expecting”, he noted.
The 28-year old Beitar Jerusalem forward is highly intuitive of Ghana’s 40 years of major trophy drought, and has insisted that the Black Stars are not just in Cameroon to add to the numbers.
“We being here to participate in the tournament is not just to play. [For] over 40 years we’ve not been able [to win the trophy]. The agenda in our head in camp is to make sure we get to the final. So for whatever happened against Morocco is past, we are focusing on tomorrow’s game which we need to bring the three points. I think each and every player has the mindset to bring that game home; so that is what we are thinking in camp – Gabon”, he added.
