The Confederation of African Football Federation (CAF), have issued official press statement on controversies that engulfed the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Cameroon 2021 Group F encounter, that saw the Eagles of Mali triumph over the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia with a narrow 1-0 win in their group opener.
Referee Janny Sikazwe appeared to have blown for full time at the 85th minute, then later in the 89th minute, ending the game prematurely.
It remains unclear what accounted for such lapse, but the Tunisia national team technical handlers have since expressed their disgust at the situation. CAF have released a press statement on the issue, directing what should be expected going forward, with no comments about the fate of the Zambian referee for the remaining matches of tournament.

“In relation to the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations match between Tunisia and Mali played in Limbe on 12 January 2022, CAF is gathering all the necessary reports from the officials at the match.
CAF is forwarding these documents to the competent bodies of CAF.
At this stage, CAF is not in a position to make further comment until the responsible bodies indicate the way forward”, the statement read.
