Accra Hearts of Oak was held to a goalless draw with RTU at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in a week 17 encounter.
The team left Accra on Friday aiming for the maximum points to move up after slipping to the seventh position due to last week’s 1-0 defeat to Accra Great Olympics.
The home side, RTU handled Accra Hearts well and gave them a tough competition, played a fairly balanced game.
The Northern giants also welcomed the Rainbows with 2-0 defeat to King Faisal.
Coach Boadu made seven changes from the team that played against Olympics with Attah, Caleb and Salim making a return into the squad, Korsah making his debut, Aziz and Sulley starting and Mensah starting ahead of Kordzi.
Isaac Mensah came close to open the lead for Hearts but he failed to control the ball properly and shots over the post during the first half.
Ronald Frimpong of RTU also had a great chance to punnish the visitors but his kick went wide over the wood work.
The game was tough-and-tumbling clash and it ended goalless draw at the end of the first half.
Due to an injury just after the recess , James Sewornu made his way off for Larry Sumaila.
Salim Adams made a trademark with a long drive which was a good move but missed the target by inches during the 65th minute.
The effort from both sides could not bring any goal despite a great chances being squandered.
Sulley Muntari who made his debut last week against Olympics went off the game for Frederick Ansah Botwe, Kordzi came in for Isaac Mensah at the latter part of the game with the Phobians hoping to get a magic goal but they needed more additional minutes just to make amends.
The 0-0 draw leaves Accra Hearts of Oak at the 8th position with 24 points. RTU lies at the 12th position with 20points.
Hearts of Oak will welcome the pride of Ashanti’s, Asante Kotoko next two in an outstanding game of the GPL.
