The Ministry of Youth and Sports has directed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the National Sports authority (NSA), managers of the various stadia in the country “to admit ONLY fans who are fully vaccinated into the stadia at various match centres on match days”.
The Sports Ministry gave the directive in a statement issued on Tuesday, March 1 through its Public Relations Unit. The directive is a measure to ensure that the quest to prevent further spread of the covid-19 virus is avoided and to enhance the safety of all football fans who troop to the various stadia to watch their darling clubs play on match days, including matches involving national teams.
“The Ministry of Youth and Sports wishes to inform the General Public particularly the football fans who wish to enjoy their favourite games at the various league centres including the game between the Ghana Black Stars and their Nigerian counterparts at the Cape Coast sports stadium on the 25th March, 2022 to ensure strict adherence to ALL covid-19 Safety Protocols put in place by the Government”, the statement read.
“To this end, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has directed the managers of the stadia (National Sports Authority) and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to admit ONLY fans who are fully vaccinated into the stadia at various match centres on match days”, the statement further directed.
The latest development comes following the confirmation by the Director General of the National Sports Authority, Professor Peter Twumasi last week that clubs can now admit supporters to full capacity of their respective grounds.
