Ghana Premier League (GPL) leaders Asante Kotoko have arrived safely in the capital ahead of the Independence Day President’s Cup match against arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak on Friday at the Accra sports stadium.
The league title contenders arrived in the capital on Wednesday evening after the playing body and the technical team, led by the Management of the club had visited the Manhyia Palace earlier in the day to officially present the team’s new bus to the club’s Life Patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The team left for Accra straight from the Asantehene’s palace. Meanwhile, ghanasportspage.com gather, that not all the players who joined the team to the Manhyia palace for the bus presentation joined the team to Accra, as some of them alighted on the way withing Kumasi for other reasons.
A total of 32 contingent made the trip to Accra on Wednesday evening, comprising 22 players in all. Our sources indicate that some members of the technical team could not join the trip and will arrive later on Thursday. However, head coach Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum joined the team along with the team manager, Henry Ohene Brenya as well as the team’s official photographer.
It is unclear what the team’s training schedule would be before the match on Friday, but it is expected the team will have a little shake up at their base before holding official training in the course of the day on Thursday.
