Asante Kotoko are not far from wrapping the 2021/22 premier league title in their bag having opened a 10-point lead at the summit, but the players must keep the virtues of vigilance and focus as a slight loss of concentration could see them dislodged from the summit of the league table by other contenders, according to Felix Annan.
The club’s former captain who currently plays for the USA’s Maryland Bobcats FC,has been a constant follower of his former club since he left the club in September last year, and is impressed with the club’s current performance level in the domestic league.
Asatne Kotoko are chasing their first league title since 2013, and with 49 points already in their bag 11 matches to end the league season, they are not far from reaching their target. However, Felix Annan believes that the points difference between Kotoko and the other title contending clubs keeps narrowing week in week out, and the players of Kotoko must take notice and keep vigilance so the hold on to the dream.
“I follow them [Asante Kotoko] every time. I speak with the boys every now and then, I still have contacts to them and we talk from time to time”, Annan told ghanasportspage.com.
“It’s true they’ve stretched the lead [on the league log] but they still have to be vigilant because the league is not over and points difference is very close, so they have to keep their focus so they wrap it up. But I hope they are able to win the league this year”, he urged.
Asante Kotoko are current leaders of the premier league log with 49 points, 10 points ahead of second place who are on 39 points with same number of matches played. However, third place Bechem United [who have confirmed that their objective is to finish in the the top four, and that winning the title will be a bonus to them if they do] are with 38 points with a game in hand against Accra Great Olympics on Monday, and could potentially topple Aduana Stars to the second place with 41 points, reducing the difference between them and Asante Kotoko to 7 points.
