Premier league side Real Tamale United (RTU) has been fined huge sums of Cedis payable within mandated period of 14 days, after being found guilty of failure to control their fans in a league match draw against Aduana Stars (1-1), during which the home fans invaded the pitch to attack match officials after the final whistle.
RTU were charged the Disciplinary Committee (DC) of the GFA on four (4) different counts of misconduct in breach of the Ghana Football Association (GF) Disciplinary Code, 2019. A charge sheet of the GFA against RTU read as follows:
COUNT 1
Statement of Offence
Real Tamale United FC, is hereby charged for a breach of Article 16(1)(b) of the GFA
Disciplinary Code, 2019.
Particulars of the Offence
Real Tamale United FC: You, on 20th March,2022, after the match between your club and
Aduana FC the Tamale Sports Stadium, did fail to comply and implement all existing safety
rules by allowing unauthorized persons in the inner perimeter of the stadium to assault the
center referee (Emmanuel Quansah).
COUNT 2
Statement of Offence
Real Tamale United FC, is hereby charged for a breach of Article 16(1)(c) of the GFA
Disciplinary Code, 2019.
Particulars of the Offence
Real Tamale United FC: You, on 20th March,2022, after the match between your club and
Aduana FC the Tamale Sports Stadium, did fail to ensure the safety of the match officials as
your supporters were seen invading the field of play to assault match officials.

Statement of Offence
Real Tamale United FC, is hereby charged for a breach of Article 16(2)(a) of the GFA
Disciplinary Code, 2019.
Particulars of the Offence
Real Tamale United FC: You, on 20th March,2022, after the match between your club and
Aduana FC the Tamale Sports Stadium, your supporters were seen invading the field of play to
physically assault the center referee (Emmanuel Quansah).
COUNT 4
Statement of Offence
Real Tamale United FC, is hereby charged for a breach of Article 16(2)(b) of the GFA
Disciplinary Code, 2019.
Particulars of the Offence
Real Tamale United FC: You, on 20th March,2022, after the match between your club and
Aduana FC the Tamale Sports Stadium, your supporters were seen throwing bottles of water
and other objects at other persons on the field of play.
After the hearing, the Disciplinary Committee of the GFA has found RTU guilty of breaching Article 16(1)(b), Article 16(1)(c), Article 16(2)(a) and Article 16(2)(b) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, 2019.
In accordance with the GFA Regulations regarding breach of the above quoted Articles of the GFA Disciplinary Code 2019, the DC has handed RTU a hefty fine of GHC10,000.00, which the club has up to 14 days upon receipt of the ruling to pay, or face accompanying consequences by invocation of Article 15 of the Disciplinary Code.
In its ruling published by the GFA on Monday, the DC ruled:
“The Committee having satisfied itself that the evidence adduced before it supports the
Charges against Real Tamale United FC, therefore, makes the following decisions:
- That this Committee notes and commends Real Tamale United for its role in the
arrest of the supporters who were involved in the attack on the match officials. - That a fine of Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢10,000.00) is imposed on Real
Tamale United FC in accordance with Article 37(1)(b) of the GFA Premier League
Regulations. - That the fine of Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢10,000.00) stated Decision 2
above is payable to the GFA within fourteen (14) days upon receipt of this Ruling,
failing which the GFA shall apply Article 15 of the Disciplinary Code. - That the club is further banned from playing two (2) matches at their home venue.
The Committee notes that Real Tamale United FC had already served the two
matches ban:
a. RTU vrs King Faisal FC at Techiman – MTN FA Cup Round of 16 match
b. RTU vrs Berekum Chelsea FC at Kumasi – Ghana Premier League match - In effect, the temporary home ban imposed on Real Tamale United FC is hereby
revoked. - That Real Tamale United FC and the club supporters are warned that any future
misconduct shall receive a more severe punishment. - That should Real Tamale united FC be dissatisfied with this Ruling, the club has
one(1) day of being notified of this Ruling to appeal to the Appeals Committee”.
