The Disciplinary Committee (DC) of the Ghana Football Association has imposed a two-match ban on Bechem United defender Samuel Osei Kuffour following an off-the-ball stamping on Asante Kotoko striker, Frank Thierry Mbella Etouga during a league match on 9th March at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park at Bechem.
Kuffour stamped on Etouga’s arm in the league match which ended 0-0 between Bechem United and Asante Kotoko. The incident happened without the notice of the centre referee, and Kuffour escaped red card in the game.
The Ghana Football Association charged him of misconduct pending hearing by the Disciplinary Committee.
“Osei Kuffour is charged with a breach of Article 34(6)(d) of the GFA Premier League Regulations, 2019,” the GFA published after the incident.
“According to the charge sheet, Samuel Osei Kuffour did intentionally kick player number 11 of Asante Kotoko SC (Frank Thierry Etouga Mbella) in an off-ball situation, an action which in the opinion of the association is an improper behavior and likely to bring the game into disrepute.”
“The player is expected to respond to the charge by 5:00 pm on Thursday, March 10, 2022, failing which the GFA Disciplinary Committee will proceed to adjudicate the case without his Statement of Defence”, the charge read.
The GFA has now announced the decision of the Disciplinary Committee after the hearing, along with the accompanying sanctions.
Kuffour has, according to the ruling by the DC, “is found Guilty
of the charge by the Committee” and has been handed a fine of GHC1,000, a two-match ban and a caution against future behavour.
