Premier League giants Accra Hearts of Oak have filed a protest at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) against referee Joseph Kenny Padi, centre referee who handled the premier league match week 24 match between Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak over his ‘unprofessional conduct’ and ‘poor judgement’ in the said match.
In a letter dated April 12, 2022, Accra Hearts of Oak announced on Tuesday that the club has filed official protest against the referee, praying the Review Committee of the GFA ‘to take a second look at the CONTROVERSIAL PENALTY awarded against the club’.
“The Management of Accra Hearts of Oak has officially filed a protest against referee Kenny Padi for his unprofessional conduct in our match-day-24 encounter with Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara sports stadium on Sunday, April 10, 2022”, a statement from Hearts of Oak read.
“The complaint was lodged with the Ghana Football Association on Monday, April 11, 2022. The import of our plea is to pray on the Review Committee to take a second look at the CONTROVERSIAL PENALTY awarded against the club. Management is disheartened by referee Padi’s poor judgement which subsequently caused us to lose the game”, the statement added.
The club has also called on the Review Committee to take immediate action on the matter “to serve as a deterrent to all other future match officials who exercise such indiscretion against any club”.
