The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has felicitated its General Secretary, Charles Osei Asibey on successful election as the President of the Armwrestling Federation of Africa at the delegate’s conference in Lagos, Nigeria.
Mr Charles Osei Asibey, President of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF), has been elected President of the Armwrestling Federation of Africa (AFA) at an elective congress held in Lagos, Nigeria.
Mr Osei Asibey, also known in the media circle as ‘The Barrister’, would lead the affairs on the continent for the next four years.
He now becomes Vice President for World Armwrestling Federation (WAF)..
The elective congress was conducted by the Secretary General of World Armwrestling Federation (WAF), Mr Mircea Simionescu Simicel.
The WAF scribe congratulated Charles Osei Asibey and the delegates for a peaceful election and urged all parties to come together and work for the development and growth of the sport on the continent.
“While elated by his success and proud of his elevation, it comes as no surprise as the association knows him as a hardworking, selfless, innovative, and dedicated member and scribe whose drive has contributed to its success”, SWAG President Kwabena Yeboah.
“From what he has achieved with the Armwrestling Federation in Ghana, SWAG does not doubt that during his tenure, he will bring the same level of leadership qualities to bear on the continental body as it strives to achieve its aims and objective”, he added it.
Charles is the General Secretary of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana, former Communications Director of the Ghana Olympic Committee, and has served on the board of several sports Federations.
