Great news for the Northerners as Tamale City secures maiden promotion to the Ghana Premier League after coming up with four points in the special three teams all-play-all competition to replace demoted Ashantigold.
Tamale City earlier defeated Liberty Professionals a goal to nil in their opener before they were held to a 1-1 draw with Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs at the Accra Sports Stadium today.
Liberty Professionals finished the competition with three points followed by the Cape Coast based-club, who finished third with just a point.
All praises goes to Isaac Mensah, who fired them into a victory over Liberty Professionals on Friday.
The player stood up once again to take the lead for Tamale City on the 30th minute.
Dwarfs, however, fought to comeback into the game with the equalizer on the 34th minute courtesy a penalty converted by Richard Addai to end the first half all squared.
After the full throttle, the one point was enough for Tamale City to climb the stage for maiden GPL promotion.
The competition was organized after Ashantigold SC and Inter Allies were found guilty of match-fixing and betting.
Tamale City were phenomenal in the zonal league where they finished as runners-up in Zone One of the Division One League (DOL) last season. They needed a draw to earn a place in the elite division in the 2022/23 season which starts next month.
