Karela United beat Asante Kotoko 1-0 in a close-fought and tense encounter in Anyinaase on Thursday in the BetPawa Premier League matchday 15 clash.
Attah Kumi’s only goal condemned disjointed Asante Kotoko to a chastening 1-0 Premier League defeat at the CAM Park.
Karela United forward Attah Kumi’s 60th minute goal from the spot proved enough for the hosts to topple the league champions.
The Porcupine Warriors were looking to snatch the maximum points and move to the second place, having returned to winning ways with a 5-1 victory over Kotoku Royals but Karela were not to be denied a victory.
Coach Seydou Zerbo’s side dominated the ball from first to last and created big chances but proved worryingly toothless in the final third.
The victory takes Karela to 14th place with 19 points. Kotoko have dropped to the fifth spot with 24 points – four points adrift of leaders Aduana FC who are at the top with 28 points.
