Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Michael Akuffo, popularly known as Gaddafi, responds to calls for violence against players amid the team’s disappointing performance in the Ghana Premier League.
Wilberforce Mfum’s demand for fans to physically attack players and sack head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum in light of Kotoko’s string of losses prompts Akuffu to advocate for a different approach.
Rejecting the notion of violence, Akuffo emphasizes the need for players to elevate their performance and secure victories for the revered club. Quoting His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Akuffo highlights Kotoko’s significance, describing it not just as a club but as a cherished institution.
In echoing the sentiments of Kotoko’s rich history, Akuffo calls upon players to honour the club’s legacy through dedicated effort and exemplary performance on the field.
“I don’t support beating the players but the players should rather up their game because Kotoko is not just a club but a religion. When you worship it wholeheartedly, it will also bless you. These were the words of His Royal Majesty Otumfuor Osei Tutu when I first joined the club and the rest is history. A proud Porcupine Warrior,” he reacted to the Asante Kotoko Supporters page’s post on Facebook.
