Hearts of Oak quickly rebounded from their recent slump in the Ghana Premier League, defeating Nations FC at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday evening.
The Phobians returned to winning ways with a decisive 2-0 victory over the newly-promoted side, halting their run of back-to-back losses. The win, crucial in their fight against relegation, moves them five points clear of the danger zone.
Hamza Issah, the club’s top scorer this season, and Ivorian import Kassim Cisse scored two quick goals within seven minutes to secure the three points for Hearts. Cisse opened the scoring in the 7th minute, connecting with a beautiful cross from left-back Dennis Nkrumah Korsah.
Moments later, Hamza netted his 14th goal of the campaign, capitalizing on a pass from Congolese midfielder Linda Mtange.
Nations FC’s hopes for the premiership title have dwindled following Friday’s defeat, as they have now lost their last five away matches without scoring.
Kassim Mingle Ocansey’s team trails league leaders FC Samartex 1996 by seven points with just two games remaining in the season.
