Sumaila reflected on his time at Hearts of Oak, stating that it was “excellent” and that he won everything during his stint with the club.
“My time at Hearts of Oak was excellent. I won everything there. Hearts of Oak had not won any title for 10 years before my arrival but God being so good, we won the Homowo Cup in my second year and lost the President Cup to Kotoko. The following year we won the league title, the Super Cup as well as the President Cup, we won four trophies in a season and the FA Cup the following year so my journey at Hearts of Oak has been one of the most successful,” he told Ghanasportspage.com.
The former defender also highlighted his individual achievements, stating that he has won every major trophy in Ghana during his career.
“When we talk about one player who has been successful in his career in terms of trophies, I am very much satisfied with my trophies in Ghana. I’ve won it all. I’ve won the Super Cup, The league title, President Cup as well as back-to-back FA Cup titles,” he said.
Sumaila’s impressive trophy haul during his time at Hearts of Oak includes multiple titles, including the MTN FA Cups, Ghana Super Cup, Ghana Premier League, and the President’s Cup under Samuel Boadu.
