Former Asante Kotoko captain Michael Akuffu has expressed strong confidence in his former club’s title prospects, tipping them to win the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.
Speaking to Ghanasportspage.com, Akuffu praised the team’s structure and spirit, crediting head coach Karim Zito for quickly instilling a winning mentality in the squad.
“It’s early but I’m tipping Kotoko to win the League. Considering what Karim Zito has built in this short period, it means they are in the right direction,” Akuffu said.
The former midfielder, who was part of Kotoko’s dominant sides in the early 2010s, believes the club’s 1-0 victory over Hearts of Oak in the Super Clash has further strengthened their confidence.
“Also, beating Hearts of Oak is an extra motivation, and I think the team will be poised for the next game against Vision FC,” he noted. “From what I see, I think they will win the league. If they don’t win it, I will be surprised.” he told ghanasportspage.com.
Kotoko’s win over their arch-rivals extended their unbeaten run and pushed them closer to the top of the table, with three games in hand.
The will face Vision FC on Wednesday, November 12, which is their first outstanding game out of the three. The Reds, currently, sit 7th with 13 points.
