Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has sent a strong message to players, insisting that no individual is guaranteed a place in the national team.
Outlining his selection philosophy, Queiroz emphasized fairness, competition, and accountability, making it clear that every player must earn the right to represent Ghana.
“Nobody owns the national team shirt. It’s my job to give a fair opportunity. It’s my job that the ones that wear the jersey truly deserve it,” he stated.
The Portuguese tactician’s remarks signal a shift toward a merit-based system, where performance and commitment will be the key criteria for selection rather than reputation or past achievements.
His stance is expected to increase competition within the squad, as players battle to secure and maintain their places ahead of major assignments, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
With the backing of the Ghana Football Association, Queiroz is looking to build a disciplined and competitive team culture as he begins his tenure with the Black Stars.
