2026 FIFA World Cup: Ghana receives morale bolster with Abdul Mumin injury return

The Black Stars of Ghana, boost of defender Abdul Mumin’s injury return after visiting the medical room.

Ghana has being severely hit with injury concerns, going into the Mundial with Mohammed Salisu, Tariq Lamptey and Mohammed Kudus all ruled out due to injuries. With Mumin featuring for Rayo Vallecano on Thursday, gives Ghana’s technical team a boost ahead of the World Cup.

The center-back spent over 418 days on the sidelines with an ACL injury.

However, finally made a comeback coming off the bench for Rayo who beat Espanyol 1-0.

It all turned into an emotional night after the final whistle, as Mumin broke down in tears, overwhelmed by the moment.

His teammates quickly gathered around to comfort him, before lifting him up and tossing him into the air in celebration.

His return means, Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz will consider him for their international friendly matches against Wales and Mexico before the World Cup tournament in the summer.
