Ghana drew 1-1 with Wales who will not be at the global showpiece, following a late equalizer by the European country.
Speaking after the clash played at Cardiff, Carlos Queiroz made his ambition clear to the media and the Ghanaian fan base, ensuring them of a better performance.
“We have to qualify for the second round and that is the main goal of our team…and when we qualify for the second round, the show starts. The real World Cup starts when it is the knockout stage and we want to be there.”
The international friendly against Wales forms part of Ghana’s preparation to the 23rd FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars have been drawn in a challenging Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama. Ghana will need to navigate a group that features both European pedigree and emerging international opposition, to make it to the knockout phase.
