Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo has praised Ghanaian supporters for their unwavering backing after Ghana secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Panama in their opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Man City striker, who was involved in the decisive goal, highlighted the role the fans played throughout the contest, saying their energy and support inspired the team to push for victory.
“The fans were loud the whole game for us and we appreciate that. We are happy to celebrate the win with them,” Semenyo said after the match.
The victory gives Ghana a perfect start to their World Cup campaign and puts the Black Stars in a strong position ahead of their remaining group-stage fixtures.
Caleb Yorenkyi late strike proved enough to separate the two sides, with Ghana showing resilience and determination to claim all three points despite the absence of Thomas Partey.
The Black Stars will now turn their attention to their next group match against England as they continue their quest for a place in the knockout stages.
The West African giants sit second, leveled on points with England who defeated Croatia 4-2 in their group opener.
