Swiss football coach, Fritz Markus Schmid, has officially parted ways with Bibiani Gold Stars, ending a notable tenure that began in the second round round of the 2025/26 season. Schmid took over the coaching duties following the exit of coach Frimpong Manso, stepping up to the challenge with determination to defend the title.
Under his guidance, the Bibiani-based club experienced remarkable success, finishing in second place in the Ghana Premier League last season. This achievement was a testament to Schmid’s extensive knowledge and experience.
As the new season approaches, set to kick off in September, the Gold Stars will face a challenge of finding a successor to take over for the 2026/27 season.
Schmid’s departure marks the beginning of a new chapter for both the coach and the club.
However, Ghanaian journalist, Shaban Mohammed is reporting that the club is talks to appoint Greek coach Petros Koukouras as their new head coach.
Petors, who previously worked with SC Villa manager is expected to take charge of the Ghana Premier League champions after previously serving as a FUFA Development Professional.
Koukouras holds a UEFA A Coaching Licence and is a Sports Science specialist. In addition to his spell at SC Villa, he has also coached Rwanda’s Kiyovu Sports.
