Asante Kotoko Executive Board Chair James Osei Brown has held a landmark corporate meeting with Accra Hearts of Oak Board Chair Togbe Afede XIV, establishing a strategic partnership to transform Ghanaian football governance.
This historic engagement, occurring shortly after the appointment of Kotoko’s new three-member board on February 27, 2026, marks an unprecedented effort by the nation’s two most decorated clubs to leverage their combined institutional weight to solve systemic commercial hurdles that have long hindered domestic top-flight growth.
By shifting from traditional administrative isolation to proactive corporate diplomacy, the leaders aim to maximize commercial value, optimize mutual growth, and modernize the executive framework of the sports industry across the country.
This collaboration comes at a critical transitional phase following a mixed 2025/2026 Ghana Premier League campaign where Hearts of Oak finished third with fifty-four points and Asante Kotoko finished eighth with forty-nine points.
The clubs plan to build upon past successful joint lobbying efforts, such as their combined February 2025 petition demanding stadium safety reforms from the Ghana Football Association.
Future focus areas will prioritize joint sponsorships, unified matchday safety protocols, and accelerating the transition toward an Autonomous Premier League entity.
